Fan stuck on High Speed.

I got a Toshiba Satellite A-100. I don't know why but since I installed Windows 7 on it, once in a while, when I open my PC my fan will be on high speed and will never slow down. My fan also goes to high speed everytime I come out of Stand By and their is no way to have it slow down than rebooting the PC. I checked with Toshiba for the lastest bios drivers but their is none since 2007. Anyone have an idea on how I can fix that ?

Checked your temperatures?

If you haven't, I suppose you could download HWMonitor to check, post back results. This sounds more like a fan controller/motherboard issue at the moment though, just check temps to be sure. Remember to check load temps as well as idle temps.

And is it only since you installed Windows 7 that this happens?

 

Alll cpu temperatures are good at boot and at idle. It's only since Windows 7 is installed yes. I really can't point the problem. And the fact that it does that everytimes I come out of Stand By is wierd cause cpu is cold when it wakes up.

 

That's very strange. It sounds like some sort of BIOS issue, or a fan controller/motherboard issue...

 

It sounds like my R600 when I'm running it on "Power Saver" profile.
This will nearly completely turn the fan off but when there is some kind of load the fan will speed up to max.
Try "Balanced" or "High Performance" power profiles, reboot your computer (sometimes I have to reboot my R600 when changing power profiles because settings won't change) and see if that makes any difference.

 

that happens to some toshiba computer. Its the Motherboard. Normally the fan start up at boot for 2 seconds than off till cpu heat up. but with this problem, the fan still full speed ahead. Need MB replacement or send it in for service if you are still cover. Try some software that will control the fan speed. see if that will help.
