I used to have sound in Linux on my X205, and now I get nothing. Also, under Windows, the Control Panel is only reporting the sound system as 2 speakers, and I distinctly remember it saying something about 4 speakers or 4.1 or something along those line. I can't find any mention anywhere from Toshiba about 4.1; so, I'd like to take it back to get repaired under my BB warranty, but I'd like to have proof that the audio did indeed show up as 4.1 at some point. The speakers are playing sound, and knowing how some of the techs can be at BB, it may be pulling teeth to convince them that this is otherwise.

I may be crazy and remember the configuration incorrectly, but at least I'd be sure. Thanks!

Sorry, I'm a little slow sometimes.

I need a screenshot from the 'Sound' control panel module. I need to see if it says '4.1 speakers', or '2.1', or '2 speakers'.

For those who don't know where that is:
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Classic View (if not already selected) -> Sound (it has a little icon of the speaker)

    I appreciate it!

5.1 surround sound on '2' Speakers it says.
My Counter Strike Source game also detects it as 2 speakers

Hmmm...so it doesn't say 4.1 anywhere in there?

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. I swear I saw 4.1 in there at some point.

My wife is 'yelling' (not really) at me...can you check the General tab; she's also saying that the laptop, when doing the sound test would test all four speakers individually.

I wonder if this is some sort of endemic problem in these laptops?

I just did the sound test in the Advanced TAB, it tests both sides speakers with a chime at different tones going from left to right.

No it's not you and the laptops are not breaking, I have the sli1 and S9349 as well and on both it only show 2 speakers in the control panel, it's the way Vista list the setup, but all 4 speakers work fine on both my laptops even though it says it has only 2 speaker setup.
