My laptop has worked fine and suddenly today, during class, i get a pop up saying that the USB that is trying to be plugged in is unknown. I was plugging anything in and i thought nothing of it. Later I went to boot up my computer and the fingerprint scanner log in wasn't working. I log in and try and open the utility and I get a pop up saying "Failed to connect to the sensor" I have no idea what to do. HELP.

I would suggest re-installing the driver and see if that helps. Could be that the registry entry got corrupted somehow. Do use a registry cleaner like CCleaner?

Some of Toshibas software shows up as invalid registry entries when using a registry cleaner and as soon as you "fix" the registry entries with the cleaner, the software no longer works.

I reinstalled Utility from the website but I didn't find a driver. It was just the utility.
Also. I have never used a registry cleaner. Im scared to touch registries and things up. haha.

Sorry to ressurect a dead thread but this happened again! Oh no!
This time. A system restore failed.
A reinstall of the drivers failed.
A entire restore to factory settings.
    FAILED.

It still says "Failed to connect to the sensor."

    HELP. :(

If you really need the finger print reader, then send it back to get repaired.

I hardly ever use mine, I set it up some few months ago, and I haven't used it since.

IT restored but there was no change in fingerprint reader! APparently its a hardware issue. THey're replacing the fingerprint reader. :)
