These machines are advertised as having "Mobile Intel HM65 Express Chipset", which supports SATA-III.
However Toshiba, in its infinite wisdom, has disabled the SATA-III abilities.
Does anybody know of a BIOS hack to overcome this?
Also, I heard a rumor that Toshiba was threatening to release an updated BIOS "mid-2012". Anybody know if THAT will fix this.
I had been very happy with Toshiba products; I don't think I will be recommending them to anyone henceforth.

I saw some recent information regarding SATA III speeds on the 800 series proteges on the Toshiba forums and made a post of the info: http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/610559-new-portege-z830-53.html#post8763055
