I just thought I'd list some of the games I've tested on my Toshiba R100 notebook. It's new, so these are the only ones I've tried up to this point:
The online game "There" (there.com)
The game isn't suppose to run, but There runs like a dream. It says, right on the There website that, that they don't support the Trident video cards, but I guess that doesn't mean they can't use it.
Unreal Tournament (the first one)
Being a DX8 game, UT runs great. I loaded up my old mod, Unreal4ever, and played U4E-Gauntlet. Dozens of monsters were on the screen with little sign of slow down.
Doom3
Since I don't have a CD drive for this computer yet, I tried to copy over an installed directory with a cracked version of D3 on it. (yes, I own it) The game wouldn't start up though. It seems like it should be able to run it if you can turn off Bump mapping and most of the other special effects, but the engine won't get that far. Instead it just says, "Not Compatible". I'll test it again when the USB 2.0 DVD burner get's here.
UT2k4
Just like Doom3, I tried to copy over an installed version. No cracks this time, because the last patch removes the need for the CD, but unfortunately, it still demands to be installed from the CD before it will start. Since the game wouldn't start, I can't test it.
Soldier of Fortune 2
Game runs great. No sign of any problems.
I'll see if I can post more games in the future....

I'm really curious as to how well the video card in this laptop performs. Do you think it could play neverwinter nights or dungeon siege? Almost every laptop I've seen under 4 pounds comes with Intel Extreme Graphics2 which is.. well.. not sufficient for running games. Anyone have any benchmarks as to how the trident in the R100 stacks up to other video options?

The CyberbladeXP4 (I reviewed this laptop a while ago, I think this was the video chip) is a bit faster than a Mobility Radeon (first gen) and slightly slower than a Mobility 7500. In other words, outstanding for such a small laptop.
It has very poor OpenGL support. Quake 3 looked terrible and stuttered a lot. You would need a hack to get Doom3 running on it. Even if it could load, it would not be playable at the lowest settings.
DX games run better. Counterstrike ran very well in DX mode - exceptionally well actually. 3DMark2001 scores where anywhere from 4000-4500 (I'll see if my R100 scores are saved somewhere).
Neverwinter Nights uses OpenGL - my guess is that you would have problems running it. Drivers are the culprit, not the hardware. I had extensive problems with NWN on RADEON Mobility cards due to the drivers. Cyberblade drivers are much worse.
The R100 is the only ultraslim that I would consider for playing games. It is better than an X31 in this regard due to the newer, faster, video chip.
The ULV P-M has some serious muscle. Consider it a 1.6 GHZ P4 when reading box specs.
For an extra pound, the small Sony with teh RADEON 9200 is worth a look too. -

I'm hesitant to buy one right now for two reasons. 1st- I'd load linux on it so it would be mostly an OpenGL thing.. 2nd- it hasn't been updated in over a year and the makers of that graphics chip have been sold/spun off. I'd hate to pay full price for a 1 year old laptop (I believe it was released in July 2003 according to CNet).
Same thing for the X31.. I'm holding out hope that the next version will be a wide 12" screen and that it will sport a 32MB video chip. We'll see I guess..
A sony would be my last choice because of that pesky memory stick.. -
I am pretty sure that IBM's successor to the x31 is the x40.
You won't get any OGL with the R100 in Linux because there is no Linux driver for the Cyberblade. 2D only.
Since XGI bought the video chip technology from Trident they have not really updated the pre-existing stuff - they are focused on developing new parts.
The R100 was a nice machine. I regret selling it due to its size and constrcution .
