    OK... here is the situation:

*Restore Points are not an option.*

    Problem:

When I go to "Computer" in the start menu it is listed as "CD Drive". I can't start DVDs/DVDROMs by clicking there. Can't play DVDs with Media PLayer, but can with media center.

    Other:

    Uninstalled Picasa, Reinstalled Picasa.

    What do I need?:

I need to install/play DVDROM games. I need to know what services could be off that would do this or I need to know what driver I need to make sure is still there or, if not, what and where and which driver to get. Toshiba has a few, but I can't differentate between them.

My guess is that just putting picasa back wasn't enough. Still, I had my processes down to 28 and know that I had no problem a week ago when I was at 32 cause I played Jehrico less than a week ago.

ha ha i did the same thing to my computer although i couldnt even get my drive to be recognized. Since i was in the middle of creating a v-lite install i reformatted and solved the problem that way. Sorry i cant be of more help... :( I wish i could figure out how picassa has anything to do with the DVD drive because it seems pretty weird to me

Okay, all you have to do is drop the files into the following path: C:\Windows\System32\drivers

I believe I attached them earlier.

    I was only missing GEARAwsiWMD.sys

I still have the same problem more or less. The DVD/DVDROM issue is the same, but I can browse DVDROMs and install by manually starting the .exe

Basically, everything works but is a bit of a PITA. As everything is working on its own what might make them work together easy like in the good old days.

Basically, hiow do I make my computer recognise that I can play DVDs no problem?

My processes went back up, so I hit a restore point to go back to where I was running 28 processes. Actually the media processes comes on automatically at startup now and I have to stop them manually, I have to manually start Mediacenter to play DVDs and I have to browse DVDROMs to install games, though icons will start and run games with the disc in the drive.

But I'm running VISTA with 28 processes and on as little as 370 threads with a T7250.

    VISTA on 28 Processes!! :D
