I have the X205-s9359 and I am having some graphics problems. When playing videos it will look fine then all of a sudden black dots and green streaks about will start appearing on my screen. On some photos it will have the black dots but not all the time. Is this a driver problem? When I had the original Toshiba driver I did not have these problems. I then upgraded to a laptopvideo2go driver to play Gears of War and I started having these problems. So when Toshiba released a new driver in August or Sept. I installed it but it is still doing it. Is this because I modified the INF file when installing the LTV2go driver? When installing the new Toshiba driver does that replace the old INF file? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Umm sounds like your GPU is dying... Did you ever overclock?

I'd uninstall the current video driver, run driver sweeper in safe mode to clean any left over files, and then reinstall the Toshiba drivers and try that.

Here's a link to driver sweeper:

Hopefully it's just a driver issues.

If it doesn't solve the problem, then your GPU might be fizzling out. After all, it is based on the "original" defective nVidia chips. My 8600s have died 3 times already.

It seems to be working fine now so hopefully it will stay that way. Jstn 7477 my x205 has crashed a few times over the years and upon reboot vista said the problem was GPU hardware failure. Are these nvidia cards being recalled? Did you have to pay for the ones that you had to be replaced and have they fixed the problem? I’ve had my x205 for over a year so the Toshiba warranty is over.

I bought my X205-SLi4 on February 21, 2008 and the GPUs died 3 times because the heatsinks are really warped and they cause the GPUs to overheat enough to pass the Throttling Point (95c). They have only replaced the video cards, and not the heatsinks which are the actual problem. I no longer play games on my X205 because after 5 minutes the games are unplayable and the framerate is all over the place. When the VGA cards die again I am going to ask for a refund and if necessary get a lawyer involved since my problem should be covered under the local Lemon Law, since it is completely unreasonable for a laptop to die 3 times. I would rather play games on my Inspiron 6000 than my freaking gaming laptop because of this.
