    Hey guys,

Just wanted to pass along i picked up one of the Hitachi Hard Drive Upgrade kits from Besy Buy last night... My local store didn't use to carry them, but per Jesse's prior post about finding them, I stopped by last night and sure enough, had two sitting there... It's an actual kit, with a Hitachi 200GB 7200RPM 3rd Generation 16MB buffer (the good one ;) ), along with an external enclosure, all the cables and screws, and a great bootable cloning program all in one package that supports our drivers and everything. Worked out great, just follow the included instructions and you can't mess it up... and the best part, Best Buy had the kit onsale for $169, and I had a couple of Reward Zone coupons good for this weekend so all said and done was able to pick it up for about $150.

I had already gotten one of the hitachi drives when I ordered my Penryn CPU a couple weeks ago, but hadn't gotten around to cloning the drive and installing it, but with the kit i just cloned both my old drives using the Hitachi kit, and then swapped in both new 200GB Hitachi's, and was done... Windows is noticeably snappier and responsive when browsing drives, haven't really done any serious testing, but both are working great.... Granted, having both are a bit overkill, but my D: was down to less than a gig free with all my Steam Apps taking up over 100Gigs and the rest music, so added about 76GB to D: along with speed, and C: is now a 200GB as well and fast. If you are thinking about going to 7200RPM drives, I'd definately have to recommend the Hitachi kit, as it's a true hardware, software, and gives you an enclosure for the drive you take out for backup all in one. Was very impressed.

be77solo - Good to hear it worked out well. Maybe after I go back to work and start getting my regular paychecks I may get 2 of these as well, then I could put one of the 5400rpm drives in my Sony that has the crappy 4200rpm drives which sadly is a Toshiba drive. LOL!

Yeah, would definately be worth picking up atleast one, and helps justify it since they give you the enclosure to use the old drive as a back up along with a good cloning program that's bootable... hard to beat!

Jesse - hope you're starting to feel better with the leg, been gone for a while on a big tile job, had to get caught back up around here ha!

Thanks for the tip, got mine last night, $10 cheaper than a WD 250gb Scorpio 5400rpm, slick simple install. Great deal.
