Hey, quick question... when I try and play an HD-DVD with the latest Toshiba HD-DVD player from their website on my X205-SLi1, why does it not let me with SLI enabled? Tells me to diable SLI and restart... but, umm, thats the whole point I bought the thing... what am I missing here? I did notice that out of the box, SLI was disabled... why? This is my first SLI system since the good 'ol 3DFX Voodoo days, is there something I'm doing wrong? And if not, doesn't that just seem busted? Tryin to watch my new Transformers HD-DVD!

    - Any other ways to play an HD DVD, windows media player doesn't even seem to recognize it

Cyberlink DVD lets you play HDDVD and Blu-ray. I'm not sure if they let you use SLI or not. One 8600m GT is more than enough to do some great post processing. It should look just as good. Get the 163.75 and you get hardware decoding support... very nice.

yeah, I'm not even wanting to use SLI for watching movies, it just won't even let me open the program with it enabled, and it's kinda a pain to have to swap back and forth each time.

Are you taking about the $100 Power DVD ultra? OUCH! is there a cheaper one that still plays HD DVDs?

Currently getting another problem with the toshiba player, I disabled SLI and it starts now, but when i click play it says "video in use by other application" or something similar to that... even though nothing else is running? Not compatible with the newer drivers I'm using, 163.75? That's my only guess, but do I really want to go back to the older Toshiba drivers?

installing 163.75 now... I'll check to see if toshiba powers up. Have you installed 4.31? Maybe that'll help. BTW, I'm sure you can find the bittorrent if you want to check cyberlink before you buy.

yeah, using the latest hd player, dated 9/18 4.31.11 From a quick search, apparently it is the driver issue, found it in another post, can only use the certified Toshiba drivers unless you do something with the Toshiba.inf file, but didn't find the details on that one... so, doesnt look like I'll be watchin one tonight ha.... should i go back to the older drivers? They decent? I've been really happy with the 163.75's with all the games I've tried... dunno

I don't know if it will work, but you could try creating an SLI profile for the Toshiba DVD player.

    http://www.slizone.com/page/slizone_appprofile.html

(For example) Running the profile under SLI antialiasing mode (which disables SLI performance mode) may work. It might fool the player, or it might disable it temporally (without the need to reboot like you mentioned).

I actually did try that after messing around with the player for a bit last night... and suprisingly, it didn't work! Guess I still have much to learn with the ways of SLI. I thought that was the whole point of the profiles, but after adding the player.exe and setting single gpu, still gave me the same error... so, then just to try and get to watch my new movie, I disabled SLI completely and then... wait... got the latest error... So pondering removing the 163.75's and installing the Toshiba drivers, or finding a better HD DVD player that doesn't cost $99! OUCH!
