I recently purchased a satellite e305-s1990x and everytime I put it in sleep whether it's with the power button or just closing the lid, as soon as I open the lid the and click my user icon the hdd protection popup is there saying it detected vibration and moved the needle to a safe position. When I click ok on the popup it then goes to not responding and I have to hold down the power button to turn off the computer. When it restarts it's fine. I have adjusted the hdd protection settings down and unchecked the box to increase sensitivity when the lid is closed but same results. I should mention this all happens with my laptop on my table...no movement at all.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried not running the HDD protection program at all to see if the "not responding" issue still occurs?

I disabled the HDD protection and the problem went away. I don't know if its related but when I open the 3D viewer the window pops open but it is empty. It does not show the hard drive unless I slightly tilt the laptop. I'm unfamiliar with this application so I don't know if this is normal or not. When I turn the protection back on it immediately sensed vibration. Would this be a software issue or a problem with the acclerometer?

Maybe someone else can chime in, I did a clean install on mine and replaced the HDD with an SSD and did not install the HDD Protection program.
