Hey everyone! Okay, I am vacillating between the Qosmio and the G73 and I have seen the G73 in Best buy, even though it was admittedly the crappy BB model, and it was all right. I would love to go for the Qosmio, if for no other reasons than the 18.4 inch screen, its gorgeous aesthetic appeal, and the ice sound system, but with all the talk about the screen brghtness and quality, I really am going to have to demo one before I make a decision.

Try J&R? I don't know if they have it out for demo, but they have the Q898 listed on their site.

If you see it, let me know what you think of it. I'm also interested.

Yeah I am very familiar with that store. unfortunately I won't be able to go this week because I am working waaaaaay uptown in Manhattan this week and not driving the car in. Parking is a ! lol

I might see if there is another J&R location on the upper west side. Will definitely let you know. ;)

Edit: Nope, looks like the Park Row store and the one off West 34th Street are the only ones. Then again, I can always get off the train in midtown and take a walk over then get back on.

Give them a call and ask if you can demo the Q885 or Q887. I know you want to see the 1080p too, but really there's no point unless you want to be disappointed.

BTW, notebook issues aside, I sooo wish I was in Manhattan...

Yeah well be careful what you wish for! The Big Apple and all the surrounding areas are suffering from a huge bed bug problem. I don't have them, but they are the f*cking worst!

Anyway, I want to see both screens, to be honest. I just need to see for myself, because even though you are probably right, I REALLY want a 1080 lappy if I can get one that is nice. It isn't a deal breaker, but I want to take a look myself.

Hey Chiro! I posted a couple of things tonight on this forum regarding current Qosmios, the ones about to come out, and their ongoing "sound enhancement" issues. Thought you might want to look at those and take them into consideration when making your purchase.

For the record, I love my Qosmio X505-Q890. I LOVE IT!!! :D Except for this "sound enhancement" issue that I can't find any reasonable solution(s) for.

Yeah, well considering that one of the major Pro's of the Qosmios over the G73 is the sound system, you're damn right I want to take this into consideration! Please keep us posted in your thread about your success with getting this issue resolved. Sorry for you having to deal with this!
