I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-JH200. Had this sucker for 3 yrs now and it still serves my purposes. I want to upgrade the hard drive from 5400rpm to a 7200 rpm. The disk size is 2.5 in.

Can I pratically just get any brand and just unplug the old one and simply swap? Any recommended brands?

    Thanks for the advice.

You will have to get a laptop drive with the proper interface (IDE or SATA) and you will have to install your OS on the new hard disk. If your HDD is IDE, don't bother upgrading because 7200RPM 2.5" hard disks are very rare now, so it seems.

Thank you. The old one is a S-ATA drive so I think next time I reformat...I'll install a new HD first.
