okay okay, i hav a toshiba
    satellite A105-s2141 laptop
heres my problem, i start my computer up, load screen, says windows and has the little blue bar loading, then it goes black, turns back on and my mouse appears like normal...then guess what happens...the blue screen that says "welcome" and then it shud show my profiles that i select right? NOPE it dont show up anymore, it just stays there, with a black screen and my mouse. I can move my mouse, and wen i goto press F2 and goto boot menu, my computer keeps track of time
I have tried safe mode (all 3 types), last known good config, directory services restart mode (during wich it does its thing and goes into another safe mode and mouse just pops up again and nothing happens...), ive tried debugging mode as well as start windows normally and i have rebooted like 4 times...
STILL PROBLEm even in safe mode, the only thing differnt with it in safe mode is the fact that there are "safe mode" on the 4 corners of the screen and the "microsoft windows blah blah numbers: service pack 2"....and then it stays there
*i have left my comp on for 4 hours and it still stays at the black screen with mouse*
anyone with any ideas how to fix please?!?!?!!??!?!! THANKS!!!
im on my desktop right now =p

In the safe mode with safe mode plastered on the 4 corners, do you get a message saying "You are running windows in safe mode...blah blah blah" that you can click OK on?

Once you get into this safe mode, and you can move your mouse, try this:

Hold down the CTRL + SHIFT keys together and press escape once. It should bring up the task manager. If it does, go to File --> New Task (Run...) and in the open box type: "explorer.exe"

If this works, you may be able to solve your problem by running the Windows XP repair function. If not...well...you're probably only left with the choice of restoring your computer to factory defaults.

and the message saying "you are running safe mode...." doesnt appear either, just says safe mode on the 4 corners with a mouse and it would stay therre for hours...and btw the ctrl shift esc didnt work =( nothing works...i cant even shut the screen to alt. screen with Fn+F5.....nothing works except my mouse on that screeen...any other options?

Note that safe mode can take a long time to start sometimes (on one of my machines, it took about 10 minutes).

Does ctrl+alt+del have any effect? What about trying to turn the num lock on / off?

Isn't F2 just to enter the BIOS settings?? Did you get a restore CD with your laptop?

hit control alt delete twice and see if it brings up a Windows 2000 style login screen.

It's very odd that you can see the mouse and ctrl + alt + del is not doing anything for you.

Did you get any recovery CDs/DVDs with your notebook? How old is your notebook?
