I have a Toshiba A105-S4054. I used it last week and noticed that things did not seam to running right so I turned it off and used another computer. Yesterday I needed to use the lap top and when I went to turn it on, it will either go as far as the "Windows is Starting" screen or may go to the home screen but there will be no icons and it is frozen. I have AVG anit virus and do not think that it is a virus. There is info on there that I need to keep. Any advice on what to do?

F8, boot in last good configuration. If that doesn't work, boot in safe mode and do a system restore to a time when your laptop was working. If that doesn't work, put in the windows installation cd and boot up... try a repair or a reinstall.

Thanks for the tips. Tried everything but finally had to do a complete restore. Lost all the info.
