    Hi all ,

Finally decided to buy a CTO P30 , configured it to my liking
and verfied everything was ok .

Now in the order status all the sudden the 17" tru bright is listed as "normal" the a/b/g is a/g .

The spec clearly state tru bright .

Did anyone else ordered a CTO or can give me an advice ( already mailed them ) ?

I'm not sure if this will help, but here's my story...

I went to Futureshop today to see the P30. It wasn't on display so I waited for them to open a new box. I note that the model code is P30-JC1. When they open the box, I'm very disappointed to see that it is NOT TruBrite. It's just a regular, 'flat' LCD. I hope that maybe when the notebook turns on, it will look better.

The sales rep turns the notebook on and it does not look better (obviously - but that was just wishful thinking). Again, it's just a regular screen and it doesn't even have very high viewing angles nor is it particularly bright.

Toshiba Canada's website says that the P30-JC1 comes with TruBrite. It absolutely does not. There were other Toshibas on display that did have TruBrite and they looked great. I'm no expert, but I know the difference.

My conclusion: Toshiba's specs are wrong. In Canada, there are only two pre-configured P30 models. The more expensive one probably has TruBrite; the less expensive one obviously does not. They should quickly and publicly announce this error before people spend $$$$s on these notebooks. Instead, they are quietly changing the specs and hoping that people don't notice.

As for the wireless, I didn't bother checking, but why worry about 802.11b if you have both g and a? I'm assuming that they're backwards compatible, but I may be wrong.

If you: are not in Canada; don't know what Futureshop is; don't care what models we get here... it doesn't really matter because I think that the situation may be similar in other countries.

    I hope this helps.
