The hinge screw on my NB505 has come loose. The one on the left has completely loosened and is lost and the right side is starting to loosen up now. I called Toshiba customer service and it isn't covered by warranty. The person then directed me to the National Parts Dept. The lady advised me to go to a hobby shop or similar b/c one screw is $5 and minimum order is $15 PLUS $11 shipping!!!

What size is the screw and is there a "how-to" somewhere that shows how to actually get at the hinge screws???

    HELP!

That sucks Toshiba will not just ship you the screw.

For your solution, you can try removing the screw on the right-side and take it to Home Depot, Lowes or Ace Hardware. With that screw, you can try finding the size using the "Screw Chart" they have, or you can ask an associate to help you. Either way they should have it for probably $1 or less.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Any advice on how to actually get at the screw? Would removing the plastic where the LCD screen is allow me access to the screw or would I need to use a different method?

Thanks. I also found that when doing a google search. I was hoping there was another way or at least an explanation on how to remove that piece. I'll start tinkering....ever so carefully.

That happened to my Nb500 (australian version of the nb505), it is easy to access those screws and just to tighten them.

I was able to get to the screws and tighten them all down. Turns out that one screw that I thought was lost was still there.

No more wobbly screen lid! Thanks everyone!
