I recently got a Toshiba P205-S7806 laptop and installed XP on it as a dual boot computer. (I needed XP for business Apps.) I have found drivers needed except the Fn + F9 hotkey to turn the touchpad on and off is not working. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do to get it working again. Thanks for the help in advance.

Im curious where you found toshiba drivers to get any of the FN keys to work, my girlfriend bought a toshiba laptop and the fn keys never worked nor did she have a cd that came with drivers to get them to work. can you share where you found this needle in the haystack of toshiba?

I looked at the device manager to find out what all devices were on the computer under vista to have a starting place. Next I googled to find the driver for the network cards so I could get internet access. After getting network access I used DriverAgent to find most of the other drivers. It cost me $29 for a years subscription but I can use it to find drivers for any computer during that year.

The last step was to go to Toshiba's site and download all drivers that were for XP and Vista. I applied all utility drivers even though they were marked for Vista. I have found that some Vista drivers also work on XP even though they do not say so.

I called Toshiba but they were not much help. They said that since I was using an OS that it was not designed for they could not give me much support. They suggested I apply the Value added patch for vista but it would not run on XP.

I hope this helps. I am still trying to find a way to get the function Hot key to work for the touchpad.

    Greetings,
I am sitting in fromt of the same model you have and we are trying to get XP on it, but the XP disk boots and says there are no hard disks in the machine. Did you hit this and if so how did you get past it ?

there are searches on installing XP on your machines...you need the SATA drivers.

I personally don't use the Fn keys. I use the Synaptics drivers from Toshiba, then manually set up the touchpad functions (in control panel; mouse). In my case, I set the touchpad to the absolute lowest sensitivy (including the thumb brush feature) so that I don't accidentally hit it when I'm typing. I use an external mouse 95% of the time, but neet the touchpad to be active when I need it also.
