    Hi
I'm a Newbie to this tecno world of yours - I got a Tosh a100-496 for xmas
Checkiing as best i can as a dummy - it would appear that the restore disk 'IF EVER I NEED IT' has the os on but not the free software like sonic windvd etc.

Could anyone advise how i could backup the whole system now to readily re-install if ever things go wrong - say from a cd/dvd - would much appreciate any helpful info.

    regards

Typically the restore discs restore your machine to its original state including the drivers and apps. You can use something like Acronis True Image if you would like another option.

The Restore disk will restore your Windows XP system ...... BUT..... there is a Linux Based utility on the disk which drives the bittons to the left of your Keyboard and allow you to play CDs and DVDs without booting Windows.

If you ever delete the partition structure then you will lose this function when you re-load the Restore CD. However, on your desktop, you will find an icon called "Toshiba Services and Options" which creates a CD which allows you to reload this function in the event that you delete partitions.

I strongly recommend that you create this CD and stash it away in a safe place.
