I have a Satellite M105-S3041. First of all the F6 and f7 brightness functions are reversed. More importantly, though, the screen has dimmed, and I can't seem to get it back to its normal brightness. The f7 button will dim it a bit, and the f6 will brighten it, but not to the maximum level. I have the laptop plugged in 95% of the time, so I don't think it is a power issue. Do you have any ideas on how I might be able to increase the screen brightness? If not, is this repairable? I've had the laptop for 2 or 3 years.

I have the same model and am having the same reversal problem.

Have you tried to adjust it with Windows Mobility Center?
Found at: Control Panel -> Windows Mobility Center -
Thanks, but I have XP, not Vista, so I do not have Windows Mobility in the Control Panel.

Hmmm, I have no clue then. Long time since I went from XP to Vista x64. Can't remember much of it. Sorry.

I have a problem similar, but I never got my brightness keys to work in the first place. I have a portege m200 (tablet) and I didn't have any of the original drivers. I found it in the trash and picked it up. I couldn't get into the original installation so I had to reformat the entire thing with XP professional (it originally had XP tablet, since it is a tablet after all).
Hours of searching google got me some drivers but not everything works. though I can't find the tools to adjust the backlight. it's at full brightness when it's plugged it, but when it unplugs, it goes to minimal brightness, and I can't change it. I tried going into the bios and i set it super-bright but when XP starts, I notice that it dims, so it has to be XP. So where can a get the drivers or program or whatever so that I can brighten it when on battery power?
That, and the damn tablet won't work. It sees it and it has the drivers, but it just won't work. I know it worked before on the old installation by moving the mouse around the login screen with the pen. a little research found out that toshiba doesn't know about their tablet, But the drivers say it's a wacom. I have a friend with a wacom tablet CD, I wonder if the included program will work on this one...
Also the rest of the function keys don't work. The only one that does anything is the display output switch and the numpad function keys.
And any additional drivers/programs will be greatly appreciated.
How do I adjust brightness when a function key doesn't work?
