Hey, I just got my Qosmio and am installing games. I have been trying to run Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and it keeps crashing on starting the game. I am wondering if I need to update drivers, but I assumed that since this laptop is so new that everything should be up to date. Any ideas?

I am going to try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it first. The problem is I keep getting a DX9 error message. I don't think that the latest Nvidia drivers will effect this, but if the uninstall and reinstall fails, I will try it.

Dumb question: If I downlaod DirectX 9, won't that overwrite my present DX11? lol Would I plunge my PC backward?

No, not at all. Win7 has DX11 installed by default. You're just updating DX9.

    They are different runtimes.

BTW, how does the Qosmio look in person to you? You've only seen pictures till now.

Ah ok. Well the game is almost done instaling. If I have a problem I will update DX9 wth your link and post how it works out.

Sure. Windows 7 has DX9, 10, and 11, but Microsoft updates the DX9 libraries every 6 months to keep up with new games.

    Thanks! ;)

No problem, I'm as anxious as you are (a bit jealous too ;)).

So, what's your initial reaction to the Qosmio?

Hard to say because I am spending hours just configuring everything. So far, I am impressed with a lot of things about it, and I have some issues. But from what I can see, I have to say that for $1,150.00 it is still a steal.

The configuration part is pretty typical for most Windows laptops, unfortunately. Win 7 is supposed to streamline the process abit.

Glad to see you're starting off well...I'll be glad to help with any issues.
