Hi. Am thinking of buying the M60 (customized) from Toshiba's online store. According to their website, their return policy states you can return (for refund) their notebooks for up to 15 days after you've received it (actually says you must call and get your RMA number within the 15 days; you then have 10 days to actually return it).

If I buy this notebook, I sincerely hope it fits the bill for me. I would never take advantage of their return policy. But in all fairness, IF the notebook indeed doesn't live up to its promise, I would think seriously of returning it. I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with returning their Toshiba notebook for a refund or exchange. I know you must return all the materials, and even return the software unopened (does that also include the system restore disc(s)? I would think if you returned a computer, you should wipe it clean first...). And Toshiba says your return is subject to a 15% restocking fee if it's a customizable model.

So anyone have experience with Toshiba and their return policy? Thanks.

personally, i would just go to an electronics store and buy one from there. use it for a few days, and decide if you like it or not. if not, you can just return it to the store as opposed to doing it online and calling etc. if you do like it, return it, and buy from toshiba online. i just got my m60 and trust me, you will like very much.

I didn't know Toshiba offered a return/exchange policy. But if they do, you might have to pay a restocking fee like Dell. I only know that HP offers a full 100% return/echange on their units within 30 days of receipt of the unit.

Just as I thought, there's a restocking fee for customized notebooks.

Does anyone know how/what Toshiba's exchange policy on customized notebooks? I'm thinking about getting the M40, but their exhange policy is the only thing really holding me back from buying.

You can either look at the link provided by Frapa or the quick quote I provided from the Toshiba site regarding customized units.

So, this means there can be a free replacement of a customized notebook without being subjected to the 15% restock fee?

I would assume from what they said on their site, it would mean that exchanges for the same unit are ok (since you're exchanging, there's probably something wrong), but a return would have the 15% applied.

Best thing to do is to contact Toshiba to verify 100% before purchasing. This way, you're covered if anything does happen differently.

FYI: Toshiba does offer free exchanges on their customized computer's, but there has to be a significant reason why you are doing so (you just can't keep exchanging computers for the heck of it, something has to be defective). However, they only let you exchange within 15 days of recieving the computer.

Hey, don't be sad. Your idea is OK, if slightly dishonest. But the bigger problem for me is that none of my local retailers that CARRY the M60/65 have a money-back deal...without a restocking fee. With the fee, it's the same as buying directly from Toshiba.

My one local retailer that does have offer full refunds without a restocking fee(Staples) doesn't seem to have the M60 or M65. If they did, I might have considered your idea!

    Thanks anyway!
