Hey guys, I just plan to start a new website. This site will provide instructions how to disassemble Toshiba laptops. I already created guides for Toshiba Satellite 1415, Toshiba Satellite M35X, and Toshiba Satellite A60/A65. I'm not sure if somebody needs this kind of guides. What do you think?
You'll find Toshiba disassembly guides at: irisvista.com

    Hey guys,
I posted couple new teardown guides with pictures:
How to disassemble Toshiba Tecra A1 notebook.

How to replace CPU cooling fan in Toshiba Satellite 1805.

More guides are coming. I think the next would be Toshiba Tecra TE2100.

I hope it’s useful for you.

I see you got the P25 guide up!

Perfect timing, I just bought two P25's... one functional, one with a screen that's not working. These guides are just what I need.

BTW... any idea how to diagnose an LCD issues? One of the units has a screen that lights up but image is scrambled and unreadable... if I hook the unit up to an external monitor it works fine.

    1. Check display cables on the system board and under the LCD.
    2. Reseat display cables connectors.
    3. Replace the display cable.
    4. If you still have the same problem, most likely your LCD is bad.
(apparently, the system board is OK, because external monitor works fine).

    Thanks for the tips...

    I started with number 1.
I then swapped screens between the S609 and the S509 P25's I have (because it was easier than swapping the display cable). The S609 did not work regardless of the screen so it isn't the screen. The S509 worked with both screens.
I then swapped the display cables and I got the same thing (unfortunately).

There must be a bad trace on the MB leading up to the display adapter connector.

So my assumption is that the MB is bad. Which really bites. Hard.

    BTW... those guides were invaluable.

One thing to add. On the two P25's I had removing of the screen involved removing 6 front bezel screws. There were two along the lower right and lower left hand sides of the screen on the units that I have.

    Thanks again!

Do you have any tips/tricks for keeping track of which screws go back into which holes?

I was thinking of using some kind of non-residue tape and taping them to the component/cover that they were pulled from.

Usually I use small plastic containers. I mark containers like "Bottom", "Under keyboard", "Screen", "System board", etc. That's it.

I've got a toshiba P25 laptop that I took on to fix for a friend. The display cable is bad as wires near the logic board side are broken. Where would I go about looking for a replacement display cable? Where would I find a part number?

I painted my toshiba sat pro a10. Broke the screen in the process so had to purcahse a new one, other than that its a brilliant metalic blue, a change from the dull black. Currently for sale and made a tear down manual in the process of my painting.

A method I used to keep track of where the screws go was to take photo graphs with the screws taken out and resting on the side. Most of the screws were from external areas and on the plastic they usually had markins, F15,F16,F17 for different screw lengths, pretty simple to remember.

Laptop for sale, pictures on request.

The pictures don't show the best angles but only ones I have on this machine.

The cork shows an indication of the shine / reflection / mirror like finish on the laptop, which, is quite extream on the lid due to the ease of polishing.

    Hi,
it is a great website you have cj2600. I own a M30-S309. The hinge of the display seems to be loose and I want to tighten it. Any suggestion in doing this? I've checked your site and you still don't have the disassembly guide for this model.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    TIA

No, you're correct. The only difference between the two is that the P30 can be customized and cannot be bought instore, whereas the P35 must be bought in-store and cannot be customized.

I do not have M30 in front of me and do not remember location of all screws.
Try to find screws for hinges on the bottom of the laptop and also under the LCD assembly mask.

    Hi,
I have a question similar to Otomo's above one. -- loose display. I have a Toshiba Satellite 5205, with the Harman-Kardon speakers. I suspect I have just to remove the speaker cover (supposedly, to tighten a couple of screws), but I am not sure how to proceed. Suggestions?

    Thanks

Check out the guide for Toshiba 5105. The guide will show you how to remove the top cover from your laptop and access the hinges. When you remove the top cover you'll see if your hinges are broken or just loose.
