I have the 505-898. Does your system have you create recovery DVDs? With my system I can, with the recovery DVDs, restore the system to the moment I opened the box (factory settings). Does your system come with the Toshiba Board, if so, you can create the recovery DVDs there, if you did not already do it. You will need 4 DVDs. When the discs are done:

    -Turn off system
    -Insert Disc 1
    -Power on system press F-12
    -Select CD/DVD Boot option
    -enter follow prompts

You will have the option to re-set to factory settings, or a couple of others.

    Good Luck :D

According to the discription of the lappy link, you have TOSHIBA Bulletin Board, which if your lappy is like mine you can access by placing your mouse on and clicking the red push pin. The push pin should be on the same line as your windows start icon.

Secondly, you have TOSHIBA Recovery Disk Creator, which can be accessed
by typing Recovery Disk Creator, in the search field, after clicking the start icon. Either way you have to create 4 DvDs.

Didn't you read any of this in your lappy hand book.
