Hey guys I can`t figure out how to enter BIOS setup on my Toshiba A205

There is no F2 invitation on first screen with Toshiba logo, so I tried to press and hold Esc like it is described on toshiba web-support, but it does not work either. The problem is that I loaded default BIOS settings occasionally due to previous checksum error, and now the system apparently can`t find HDD and writes "Operational system not found". But I CANT enter BIOS anyhow!

No F1 prompt, no F2, I tried these keys when laptop starts - no effect. BIOS = phoenix, I believe.

Any suggestions? I will appreciate your help

To enter the bios on my Toshiba L25 with phoenix it is F12.

Seems strange that the default settings would make your drive unreadable... Unless your bios also controls the raid array (if it is sata)...

You`re probably right in your suspicion, it could be just HDD failure but I want to be sure that BIOS does not see it.

    F12 doesn`t work either :(

Which A205 is it? Checking out the Toshiba site brought up this support bulliten... Check out to see if there is one of these for your specific model.

The problem described doesn't exactly match yours, but seems it could be related.

On second thought, if it were the problem described on the site it shouldn't even get to the point of trying to boot the OS.

Still, check it out and contact a "Toshiba Authorized Service Provider" if you suspect it could be related. It is worth a shot since if it is related they will fix it for free.
