Anybody got experience on doing fresh XP installation on portege 3500 without using CD-ROM?

    I tried the followings:

    1. boot from external CD-ROM, doesn't work.

    2. format the internal hard drive, have a partition set to active with space of 2GB and copy those XP files into this logical partition, then try to boot from it... Doesn't work.

I got hard drive changed, and need to install OS again. By the way, what do you mean external HD?

    Thanks!
