I tried to rip a DVD on my new Toshiba M115-S3094 today, and the ripping speed never got above 3x. The DVD Drive was really quiet, and that's when I remembered the Acoustic Silencer program. I went into the program, and I tried to set it to Normal Mode, instead of Quiet Mode. But I can't tell if it really changed modes or not, and the program doesn't say anwhere what mode is it currently on. I can't even find a way to turn off or disable this Acoustic Silencer program.

Does anyone know how to turn it off or disable it? I don't want to get rid of it, because I think it would be nice to use sometimes, but I really would like to turn it off for right now.

Suggestions, anyone????? I'd sure appreciate it!

You can got start>run>msconfig and then under the startup tab there should be a box with a check mark with a path that leads to Toshiba's drive silencer. Remove the check mark restart and it should be disabled.
