I got a virus on my laptop which was running XP pro and it disabled or deleted rundll32.exe.
Could not do a restore so put the Windows installation disc from my desktop, which is also xp pro…. It saw there was a windows already on the lap top It said it was corrupted but it could be repaired so I pressed r for repair and it did its work. But it replaced the version on my laptop and I don’t have any of the data from the old version which had all the Toshiba drivers etc
Plus when I go to activate I can’t and the computer is l stuck on the first page How can I uninstall this and revert back to my old ver. Even corrupted it was better than what I have now!

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated

    Laptop is
    Toshiba Tecra A2 PTA20C MS101E XP Pro 2GB

How big is the hard drive? If its big enough you might be able to create a second partition and do a fresh install of XP on that partition and recover any data you need off the other partition. If you don't need any data you need to keep or have another way to recover it without a fully working XP install then do that and just wipe the whole drive and do a fresh install.

EDIT: Another idea is if you do put a fresh XP install on another partition. Get a virus scanner, make sure its up to date, and scan the old partition first to make sure you aren't transferring the virus to your new install.
