UPS delivered the other day my new M50 and I think I will keep it.

I ordered it with 0.5GB (2x256MB) and plan to upgrade the memory to 1GB (2x0.5GB). The manual says that one of the memory modules is under the keyboard and should be accessed only by Toshiba technicians.

Anybody knows how to get to that module?

I think that the M45/M50/M55 have similar consturction so if you have the answer to any of the other two, please let me know.

    Thanks

Usually, there's some screws on the underside of the notebook, but I believe the M50 doesn't have any on the underside olding the keyboard in place. You need to open the LCD and the small plastic bezel right above the keyboard needs to be lifted off. Once off, there are 2 screws holding the keyboard in place. Take them off and lift the keyboard up (be careful about the keyboards ribbon cable). You should see the other ram module.

I'd recommend getting someone qualified to take the keyboard off. The reason Toshiba recommends a qualified technician is because this plastic bezel could snap in half if forced out or other damage could occur. But, in any event, the above is the basic instructions on how to access the other memory module. Try at your own risk.

I believe both slots are under the unit on the M40's as well. The modules should be stacked (one on top of another).
