    Hi!
As I'm waiting all the time for F55-Q503 I started wondering... hey, maybe it's been already published somewhere?

    We're looking for Intel C2D 9400 + GF 9700.

As far as Toshiba Qosmio is concerned:
    Here we have C2D 9400:
    - Toshiba Qosmio F50-10A

    Here we have GF 9700:
    - Toshiba Qosmio F50-108

So... maybe there exists somewhere a version with both of these elements in one laptop?

I paid lots of money for a "nice" Toshiba Qosmio (F40).... because it was customizable and I was able to get it with exactly the specs I wanted.

All I can say is, I wasted alot of money. I'm about to start looking into how to return this laptop. I would be completely satisfied if this was a <$1000 laptop I had bought, but I spent more than $1800 with tax and shipping and whatnot.

Here are the problems that I am frustrated with for the amount of money I spent on this qosmio:

windows vista sucks..... even after spending hours disabling all of its extra spiffy features, it still is less stable than xp and none of my old audio software runs correctly with vista.

the case isn't that great. the outside is a glossy black that is impossible to keep fingerprints off of. it would look great if you always handled the computer with a velvet glove.

the inside of the case feels cheap, all around the keypad. there are extra "media" keys at the top, and the plastic casing around them is just loose and flimsy. i can press the 'pause' button just by pushing in on the plastic part of the casing half an inch away from it.

the "deluxe Harmon kardon pro speakers" suck. of course laptop speakers always suck, but these were overhyped like they were supposed to sound any better..... if you turn bass-ey songs up above 70% volume, the speakers rattle the crappy case.

some of the toshiba software (that they assumed I wanted installed on my computer) sucks.... like the program for the fingerprint scanner is glitchy and unresponsive, the toshiba "media player" sucks (why do i need an extra media player when windows already has one installed?), and the laptop "power management" program doesn't work great (its supposed to automatically switch to power save mode when unplugged, and switch back to high performance mode when plugged in, but it doesn't always do this.... or sometimes it will switch, but the screen's brightness won't change accordingly....)

battery life sucks...... lower than what was advertised when I bought it, and constantly getting worse. the specs they post on the battery life must be under ideal conditions (i.e. not even using the computer at all)

customer service sucks.... the headphone jack on my qosmio broke, so i called the warranty number, and i couldn't understand his english, and he couldn't understand mine..... i asked if there was any i could email my list of problems and complaints to, and after checking with his supervisor for 5 minutes, told me "no, we no have email"

    AVOID QOSMIO
    AVOID VISTA

i know you're thinking...... 'nah, it won't be that bad for me, i'll make it work...'

you might be right, but surely there is another computer out there with the right specs for you........ i would just hate to see toshiba rip anyone else off like they have done me.

tylaj04 - you are exaggerating. I have had a few Toshiba laptops. Never had any problem with customer service. If you use things like Toshiba media player etc... well - that's your decision but you shouldn't blame a company that it provides you with things it doesn't have to. I never install additional soft, except for the one necessary for the hardware.

Windows Vista? C'mon, what does it have to do with Toshiba?

The only arguments which I understand (though cannot say anything about them, because I've never had Qosmio) are about the case and the battery life.

Batr - in details, it says "GF 9600M", not 9700... (!?). Strange.

lol very nice comeback. Yeah vista sucks....I think everyone knows that...XP is the way to go if you can, but if not just deal with it. Also tylaj04 has the older model. Of course it is more expensive because well it was their top of the line at the time. Also who really uses the software that comes with the laptop anyways? I'd say reinstall the OS and start fresh. I am planning on getting the F55-Q503 because well it is one hell of a lot better than the Alienware I got previously. F40 (old) doesn't = F50 (new)......totally different animals.
