I just couldn't beat the price for Sandy Bridge and GTX460. I just bought 750gig hard drive and will eventually upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate. Sandy Bridge i5 for 1199.00, I don't think you can beat the price. I have a Toshiba A665 3DV and love it so I'm sure I'll be happy with this one too.

Tell me how much better you like the Toshiba and how much better is plays games than your alienware. I love my x505 q898 by far best notebook i have bought.

Well my Alienware is the R1 so it has the duo core extreme t9100, so I'm sure it will play them better. It also has 2 4870 gpus so 2 generations old also. I'm counting on this being as good or better than my Satellite A665 3DV and then I'll be happy. I love my A665.

    Congrats on your purchase. :D

The Qosmio is a very competent gaming laptop. I am still baffled over why so few people actually choose the Qosmio, over what the other manufacturers offer. Maybe it's the 945p screen, but I think it looks great!!! :D

I've played all these games at native resolution (1680x945p), at high-ultra detail settings without any problems nor slowdowns:

Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2, Starcraft 2, Half-Life 2 [of course], Mass Effect 2, Counter Strike Source [ultra MAX settings, get 200 fps].

Only game I have to turn detail to "normal" to get aggressive rates on 945p resolution:
Metro 2033 [look up this games, many laptops get very bad rates. It has very complex shading].

Make sure to do a review of the q8100x, as no one has done one of that model as of yet.

    Good luck

    **EDIT**
Oh! and be warned... The Qosmio is huge!!! :)

Seems the X500 series is now obsolete! I love mine with the 1080P screen and blu ray drive. Watching movies is spectacular!!!! I just got Power DVD11 and you can now use several phones to control the functions like volume fast forward etc, just like a real remote!!!!

My Satellite A665 3DV has blu ray so I didn't care if the Qosmio did. It's a use at home in place of a desktop computer. I like portability in my work area. My hubby and son both have desktops and my son is inheriting this Alienware M17x (cleaned it off for him last night). The Qosmio is on the truck and out for delivery but my new hard drive won't be here until Monday. I guess it will be back up day and I will install Mass Effect just because I'll want to try it out. I still haven't purchased Crysis 2. I'm waiting for it to come down in price. I'll download a benchmark tool and benchmark the lappy when it arrives.

I feel the same about Crysis 2. I am willing to wait untill its $20 or $30 bucks before I buy. I didnt really enjoy the first 2 games.

I bought Crysis 2 for 44.99 on EA Download. I loved Crysis, blew through the game, but I wait for a game to get to around the 40.00 mark to buy it. I'm considering the new Alice game from EA since I wanted to play the first and never bought it. I'll have to wait for the reviews though since it is very far from my normal scope of games. I like more realistic games and that is high fantasy but I am a Alice in Wonderland fan. I really loved the new movie with Depp as the Mad Hatter.

    You won't be disappointed.

When I played Crysis 2, I had the screen on MAX (945p), but turned the detail to "Very High" instead of "Extreme". The game still looks amazing at this setting, but you'll get 50+ fps over the 20 or so fps on Extreme [if you want extreme, probably lowering resolution will work].

    Good luck

    I have 945p resolution (1680x945).

Goto this link and at the bottom you'll see game benchmarks.
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
The GTX 460m gets 50+ fps @ very high. I don't know how to check my own fps ingame for Crysis. But @ very high, the game is very fluid; no slow downs.
