Hi My Name Is Angel Figueroa. I Have A Problem With My Toshiba Sattelite. I Got My Laptop About 7 Months Ago. Scince I Am Deployed In Iraq I Work All Day. So When I Got My Laptop I Changed The Settings To Where Closing The Screen Would Have No Effect On The Computer, In Case I Wanted To Go To Sleep And Leave The Computer Downloading Something. Now What I Normally Would Do Is Wake Up Shut Down The Computer And Go To Work, But One Day I Forgot To Shut It Down. That Day Before Leaving For Work I Disconected The Power Cable And Got The Laptop Inside Its Carring Case. So The Computer Stayed On Inside The Carring Case Until The Baterry Drained. When I Got Back From Work The Computer Would Not Come On. I Mean The Little Light That Indicates The Computer Have Power Will Come On, The Little Light That Indicates That The Hard Drive Is Running Will Come On For Only 3 Seconds And Then Shut Off And The Screen Would Not Come On. I Dont Know Much About Computers But My Theory Is That The Computer Overheated And The Hard Drive Got Damaged Becaused I Tested The Ram Memory In Another Laptop And It Works Perfectly Fine. If Am Right Will A New Hard Drive Fix The Computer? If Am Not What Else Could Have Happened?
I Will Appreciate If Any Of You Could Help Me With This.
    Thanks In Advance.

this doesnt look like a hard drive failure. beacuse even if hdd fails the system will boot into the bios and will show 'no bootable media detected'. so the problem must be with your bios or processor. however it is unlikely to be a problem with CPU as it wll shut down automatically in instance of overheating. however the bios chip doesnt have such a feature as far as i know. maybe overheating has damaged it or the power system of your laptop. try plugging in the hdd into another system to make sure its working or not. also try to switch on your laptop with another battery or with battery removed in AC power. batteries are highly susceptible to overheating.

system probably overheated and either damaged the motherboard or CPU. If I had to guess I would say the motherboard failed first. That said, the memory and hdd would NOT be the problem.

Ok lets say that the HDD works and that trying a different battery didn't do nothing. That leave us with the bios chip. What would you recomend to do? Send it to toshiba to get it checked? or is it repleceble?

Well, call up Toshiba and say that you think your laptop overheated, they will try to diagnose the problem and tell you what to do.
You would probably have to send it in.

i donno exact toshiba bios. however this is the general thing to do

    1. go to your bios
    2. under onboard peripherals go to SATA.
    3. change it from AHCI to SATA emulation
    4. install XP
