FYI: This is my 1st real computer and apart from surfing the web I pretty much know crap. I have DL'd a patch for neverwinter nights 1 on vista, installed it sucessfully, but then got stuck on other issues. Also, I had a s7483 and it died of a failed BIOS update 2 weeks after I got it. But that's how I upgraded to this current notebook. Also, going through the pc forums, I know some of the terminology and I know that I am not familiar with the specifics of them.
What should all this tell you? Well:
1-I don't know what "safe mode" is or how to get into it. I'm not even sure when I should.
2-I kinda sure what a "clean install" is, but am damn sure I want to avoid doing one for the moment.
3-I want to stay away from messing with the BIOS and I more or less know nothing about it.
4-I can install things if I know where to put them and KNOW SPECIFICALLY how to get to where to put them.
5-I know that I can get nvidia drivers at laptopvideo2go.com
6-I don't automatically know when to change a files name or know what to change it to. Or why.
7-I don't know if or how Toshiba's gerryrigged SLI needs some "special mojo" to accept video driver updates, because I've seen quite a few forums where the TC was on the losing end of getting driver updates on their SLI notebook to work. Either way, I'm hoping that should someone post a decent set of instructions on how to update the video drivers on the x205-SLI1, that they have already done it on that model [or the SLI3]. This is why I posted here instead of other places a "video drivers" topic might of gone, I want to make sure what help I get, if anyone is willing to give it, is good to go my Toshiba.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Make the newb a walkthough for updating the video drivers on a Toshiba x205-SLI1.

Short Answer: No
Long Answer: I think I can manage to locate a desired driver from laptopvideo2go.com and download it. I don't know what to do from that point on.
EDIT ***I'm at work right now and am at that point of the day at which I actually have to do stuff. So I might not have time to reply for the next few hours. I'm not in a rush to get this done today even, but I have to learn it sometime so I just wanted to get the ball rolling. I really thank you for showing some interest in helping out. I'll keep hitting refresh on this thread from time to time and reply if I can between now & 9am est. -
the site is down so when its up again download the driver 169.04 with the modded inf. place the inf file in the drivers directory replacing the old one and u should be good to go

"download the driver 169.04 with the modded inf."
Ok, find driver 169.04 that is listed as having a modded inf. [or am I just looking for said driver with "inf." in its name?]
"place the inf file in the drivers directory"
How? How do I get there and how do I put it in? I can probably find the directory on my own, but how do you actually put it in? Is it like installing a game or am I just dragging it from where ever I DL it to into the directory?
"replacing the old one and u should be good to go"
Is the old one replaced automatically with the install of the new or do I need to do something to take it out? [And do I really want to or can I leave it should I want to revert back? ]
Finally, when I'm looking to update again, am I only looking for drivers with that same inf.? That is, am I looking for a driver that is more or less presented in exactly the same way, but with a number that is higher than 169.04?
And with all my glorious newbness unfurled, "What is inf.?" -
no the driver will be 169.04 and the inf can be downloaded from a link that is present on the page which lists the driver.
2. when you download the driver save it on the desktop. that wayit will be easy to find. Download the inf and also save it on the desktop. selesct the inf file and move it into the folder that contains the driver files you have just downloaded. the pc will ask it you want to replace the current file in the folder and click the yes button. then go into the folder and located the exe file to download the driver.
if u still dont understand wait till the site is back running and you the guide posted there.
hope i could help

p.s: i know this is a long reply lol -
Here's a good guide that you may not have run across, but good reading and will give you a bit of help hopefully... Also, there's a good F A Q and guide on Laptopvideo2go as well that explains exactly what to do, and that's what I'd recommend you check out... only problem is the site has been down a couple of days, but will hopefully return soon. They modify the files for you and make it very simple, and as soon as the sites back I'll shoot you a link of exactly where to go. They have a good forum section as well that has the latest drivers and feedback for each version, along with the said guide and modified *.inf file you'll need.
And just to help ya understand in case you dont, Nvidia regulary releases drivers that are newer for the desktop cards, but leave out the mobile series so they don't have to supply tech support and make sure all the power options etc work with each individual notebook. They leave that up to the Notebook Manufacturer... aka Toshiba in this example. What Laptopvideo2go does is modify the install file so that the new drivers will recongize your notebook's graphics chip and install, giving you the latest drivers that won't be available from Toshiba for a long while if ever.
Here's the guide from this website:

good luck!
