I am looking for a 14" XGA PM730, 512 MB RAM, 60GB HDD, 64 MB RAM video, DVD Dual Layer, light but solid, for professional use (Office, C, Matlab, some graphics, Wi-Fi), with battery-life > 3,5 hours.
Tecra M3 seems a great notebook.
A collegue of mine has got Tecra M1 and I know the case is very solid (in magnesium). I think M1 is the notebook with one of the best battery-life: it can reach 5 hours!
So I was very disappointed reading about M3: both performance and battery-life lower than what expected.
    Is it true?
Someone has got the notebook can confirm it?

    Thanks.

Hi, I am looking to buy the Tecra as well, I started looking at the T43 but now it seems they both are sturdy and well equipped with the Tecra being way cheaper, but I have found lots of mixed and contradictory reviews about the Toshiba:
Exhiibit A) CNet says it has short battery life and lackluster performance
Exhibit B) Notebook Reviews own review says the opposite and even says that it has nice and sturdy build quality
Exhibit C) PC World's review http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,120928,pg,1,00.asp says that it is a nice laptop but its sturdiness is questionable
Even so in various sites I have found news about Toshibas EasyGuard security similar to IBM's security system and that it can supposedly survive 70cm drops and that it has a TPM chip etc....
So whats all this about? its Frikin confusing!! [?][?]
