Hey, I've purchased an 8600m sli card set for a X205 SLI, but when I replace it with my old 8700m the display turns on, but the computer does not start up. I replaced it back with my old 8700m and then everything runs fine. I was reading somewhere that the 8600m sli and 8700 were interchangeable. Does anyone have any experience with this?

It could be that the card is dead, but then I'm screwed. :(

    Thanks for any help.

    Addition:
I've removed the second card from the SLI set, and simply plugged in the one 8600m. No luck with that, still no bios boot.

I would say the main card in the 8600 sli is dead or both, I have done that upgrade with an X205-9810. They all used the same motherboard, so it has to be a dead sli. In case you are interested, the X205's can support up to 8 gb's of ram too. I used the same memory that is used in a Qosmio G55-804 in mine and it works great on windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

This is exactly what I am using in mine.
    SAMSUNG DDR2 4GB 6400 800 MHZ SODIMM
    Genuine Samsung 4GB,1 stick,DDR2, PC2-6400S,SoDimm,NEW - eBay (item 220678941464 end time Nov-04-10 08:27:56 PDT)... I have 2 sticks installed for a total of 8gb's
The memory will run at the chipsets max rated speed.
You will need to be running a 64bit version of windows to uitlize all 8 gigs.
