Recently purchased a L500, p/n PSLU0U-0NG039, that came with Windows 7, Premium Home Edition. My previous computer was an H-P desktop, about 6 years old running X-P, Professional. One of the programs that I wanted to load onto the new laptop will not run on Windows 7 without installing an upgrade to Windows 7, Professional and then further installing X-P Mode and Virtual PC. One of the programs on the laptop, Windows Anytime Upgrade, takes you to the Microsoft site where you can download and install the Professional upgrade. This I did at a cost of $97, and then went to another Microsoft site where you can download and install X-P Mode, and then Virtual PC, except these two enhancements would not install. The other night a Microsoft software technician was given control of my laptop and he spent at least 2 hours trying to install X-P Mode and Virtual PC . At the end of that time he claimed he had successfully installed them, but they wouldnt run. He then asked me to go into the BIOS setup upon start-up and make sure that HARDWARE VIRTUALIZATION was Enabled. I couldnt see where that option (to enable or not) was available. The software tech told me then that nothing further could be done. So much for Windows 7.
I do own a retail copy of X-P, Professional along with service Paks 1 & 2. But I get some sort of error message when I try to install this.
I believe Im out of luck relative to using Windows 7, so my question is does anyone know of a method of installing X-P, Professional on this laptop?
Thanks, and excuse me if Im posting to the wrong area of this forum.

You need to make sure that your XP install disk is at least SP1 level or higher for it to recognize a hard drive larger than 137gb in size. You can integrate SP1, SP2, or SP3 into your XP Install Disk by using nLite as per this guide.
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Integration - MSFN Forums
Because Windows XP doesn't have native SATA support you'll need to follow this guide Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers - MSFN Forums to integrate your SATA drivers into your XP Install Disk. If your system has an Intel chipset motherboard do yourself a HUGE favor and use the Intel drivers they link to in the guide. If your motherboard uses an AMD/ATI motherboard chipset substitute this driver Lenovo Support & downloads - ATI RAID driver for Windows XP - ThinkCentre A61 for the Intel drivers in the guide.
You can integrate your Service Packs during this procedure as well.

Install your drivers in this order.
Restart after each driver and take the time to test between drivers.
The driver installation order is a GENERIC one that isn't model specific so not all will apply to your model.
The names are generic and may not match the names on the files exactly. You'll need to use your best judgment and common sense to determine which ones to install.
