Has anyone noted the dismal quality of Toshiba's webcams? I used to own an HP with a webcam and the quality was much better. Or, is it possible that the drivers are just junk?

Well, lighting also affects the quality of the image in a webcam. Try improving your backlight to see if that helps. You might be right in that some optics used by some brands (perhaps HP) are superior to others. I don't think drivers has much to do with this.

i've always been curious as to the differences too... my acer orbicam kinda sucks but supposably is made by logitech. On the other end of the spectrum, my asus 1.3mp webcam is so much quicker. the lighting does play a big role but in the same light the asus webcam performs so much better. =/
