I am living in Hungary and as far as I can tell the Quosmo x305 is the best notebook that can be bought here at the moment, plus I really like the brand name and reputation of Toshiba.

But This Quosmo is very very VERY VERY far from subtle, if I buy it is it possible to buy a new case for it at all? I couldnt find anything on google.

    Many thanks!

It'll grow on you and you'll love it believe me. The outside ain't all that but when you open up the notebook the inside is beautiful with the lights and all. It's ahead of it's time. Like that seen in Back to the Future were Marty is in the highschool prom and playing rock and jamming the electric guitar, and the crowd doesn't get it, but he knows what's the future.

AMEN. When I open my Toshiba on the plane...with its piano black finish and lights above the keyboard, and over the touchpad, I invariably hear a "WOW! Nice" from whoever is sitting around me.

The chassis was the main reason I've decided to gradually replace innards of my X200 instead of buying new X300.
X300 is just too garish, and worse yet, its very heavy and bulky. Also it have this "quad-speaker" setup which is totally useless for me, I just want good stereo sound.

Well, I am currently using an Asus and am having a number of issues with it like the silver finish coming off where your hands would rest while typing. I was hoping to wait until laptops came with a BR writer and such, I was also hoping for a 1080+ screen but its not exactly life or death. I normally wear a headset whenever I need to play something on the computer so I dont think "quad speakers" are neccessary.
I have never really heard bad things about Toshiba so Im hoping they will satisfy me :D

I am actually replacing my 1080 screen with 1440x900 one from ASUS G2P, its much better on viewing angles and brightness, also 1680x1050 makes details on screen too small for me, also you can't run most of the games in it natively anyway.

BR drive - what the prob? I dont need it now, but when I will, its no problem just buying one and replacing my current one with it.

Yes, unless laptop is using higly non-standard drive like ultra-slim/slot load, etc.

Its rarely issue with 17'' notebooks, they mostly use standard tray-load drives, they all interchangeable.
