I tried searching for this on the forum, but couldn't find much.

I want to buy a Toshiba laptop in the USA, and use it in Canada.

Will the regular, 1 year warranty be usable here?

(I don't want to have to send the laptop to the USA for repairs, because they might not ship it back to Canada.)

Has anyone had experience with this? Does anyone know the actual rules?

Here is what I found on the forum:

"the 1 year standard is international"

    Link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=260529

"units purchased in the US must be repaired in the US"

    Link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=260529

Which is it? I don't want to call a CSR, and have them tell me what I want to hear. :(

Well, at least for my x205, the warranty was INTERNATIONAL as long as you were in the same continent... I bought it in USA through amazon.com and got it repaired here in Venezuela without any problem

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

That's strange - I called the Toshiba "service" department, and the employee told me that he didn't know - it might or might not be.

But then I called the "sales" department, and the employee there told me that the warranty would definitely not be valid in Canada.

Toshiba's "limited international" warranty is valid as long as you on same continent. Which can be read in warranty description book you should have.

Toshiba International warranty is done by a company call Genamation, your notebook would have to be sent to them for repair, I think they are located in Toronto.
