Hey,
My laptop decided that my bios password is incorrect. I realise that the only way to fix it is to take it to a Toshiba dealer to have the password removed for a price (which is annoying considering I didn't forget my password in fact the same password happens to be for this site!) but what I want to know is whether it is worth fixing.
Its about 2.5-3 years old and a Toshiba Satilite A100 PSA88A (I think)
CPU: 1.66 dual core
Ram: 1.5GB (upgraded from 512 last year)
Hdd: 250GB SATA (upgraded early this week)
Graphics: Intel 940GM
OS: winxp pro
Lucky I didn't put a password on the hard drive so all my data is safe!
So should I go and pay $100+ for it to get fixed or sell the memory and hdd and put the money towards a new computer?

k. does it even look for an operating system?

no it just goes Welcome to Michaels laptop.. (my owner string) with a box in the middle of the screen for my password. But when I enter my password it says its incorrect which I know it isn't

just sell it off and buy a new notebook

Sorry I thought I made it clear, I'm not after away around the password. I'm asking whether its worth spending more money on getting toshiba to reset it, or whether I'm better off buying a new one, like boypogi said in the post above me.

Nah I've decided to get it fixed, I looked into fixing it myself but the only way that sounded promising involved opening her up and shorting out some pins
If I had more money I'd buy something new but well frankly I don't at the moment plus the whole spending $70 on the (almost faulty) recovery disk didn't make it easy to think about letting it go. Not to mention its my first laptop
Is it worth fixing?
