I have a toshiba satellite A135-s4527 and upon turning my computer on, it begins booting but then the script: "A disk read error occurred, Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" comes on to the screen. NO matter how many times i restart, the same thing happens and now I am locked out of my computer which has all my essays, homework, and class notes on it. PLEASE HELP!

At this point, I do not think all hope is lost. Try to boot up into safe mode (F8) if you can. If not, try a Linux Live CD to boot up and save your information to a USB drive or external drive. After this, I would try doing a check disk then a SMART test.

I suggest if you have anythey disk computer get external hard disk case

for laptop hard disk and plug into desktop

if the laptop disk you have is sata based you don,nt even need adapter if you desktop has sata

    is your computer fired no

hard drive possably fired and data possably losed yes but not the machine

the spec list that laptop as sata

do have desktop with sata you cound stick the hard disk try to pull data off

Andy is right in that if you have a desktop with SATA, you can plug the HDD directly into your desktop via an SATA cable and the SATA power cable and you will be able to see the files on your hard disk if it still works. Don't unplug your desktop's main hard drive though, just find a free SATA port on your motherboard to plug your laptop's drive into (if your desktop was made in the last 3 years and has SATA).
