    Hi Guys

I was wondering if anyone knew if the HD DVD drive on the Toshiba X205/X200(in UK), is region coded?

Was planning on getting transformers on HDDVD, and it comes out 2 months before in the US on HDDVD than in the UK. I heard somewhere that the drives are region free, but the article is 2 years old.

    Thanks
    Pete

On my x205, Windows Vista reports the DVD region is set for "Region 1". So, there is a region code on the DVD hardware itself. I believe that it at this time, only affects regular DVDs (some Japanese import HD DVDS play fine for me). However, this does not mean it can't be activated later, but as it stands right now there are no region locked HD-DVDs.

Doesn't meant it won't change down the road.

So, uh... in short, yes, the drive itself is region locked.
