    HI,
I am planning to buy a a200-6v but i am not sure if there are any reliability issues with that model. i have heard bad things about the higher end models but i seriously need guidance. If there are no problems then i will buy the a200

What is your budget? If you desire reliability, it might be prudent to acquire a business class notebook such as a Thinkpad.

I don't know about that exact model, but so far I've had good experiences with 3 Toshiba's, all having in my opinion better build quality than the Sager and Compaq I've also had. In fact, the only one of all of them that did have any problems was the Sager. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I don't know about this particular model of Toshiba but you should do a search and watch user review in the notebook database section.

Generally, the reliability of Toshiba laptop across all segment is average compared to other mainstream brands. This is supported from various surveys from PC mags and Consumer Report as well. According to what I have read previously, some high performance laptops actually have had higher reported reliability problems than your generic brands. Not sure if this is due the "pushing the envelop" syndrome or not.

I had mine for a month, no bad things have happened, but there are random beeps sometimes, some times once a day, sometimes a week. Lately it hasn't been happening.
Also I bought it for $699 +tax, now it is $599. Better hurry, I think most places are sold out already.
I would very very strongly suggest to upgrade to at least 2GB ram because Vista takes up about 800mb of the 1GB installed.

New Toshiba series (A200 and M200) experience some improvements in overall build quality than its predecessor. Many of my friends bring it on campus and I find it quite good overall.
