I just bid on a Toshiba P100 laptop from ebay that retails for $1800. Placed a bid for $520!!!! Anyway, if I win this, I would like to upgrade the gpu. It has a 7900 GTX, but I want a DX 10 card. I was wondering if I can do this.
THe rest of the specs are:
    1.83GHz Core2Duo
    Vista Ultamite
    2GB Ram
    160GB Hard Drive
    1440x900 17" LCD
    Onyx Blue Metallic Lid

And it is a multiple item auction, this guy has 9 avalible. It looks like 6 of them, including me, were bid on. [For the starting bid of $500] I cant really go higher than $520, chance of getting one for that price? That is a great feature of ebay, it spreads out the bids as much as possible so the buyer gets one for the cheapest. Anyway it s over in 3 days and 4 hours, should I win one for $520 max?

    Thanks

It won't got for 500, trust me. When I sold my last laptop (Latitude D600) on eBay it jumped from $210 to $431 in the last 15 minutes.

Probably closer to 1000 or 1200

Just cuz u place a bid for $520 doesn't automatically mean you'll get it at that price. Like mentioned before, the last 15 minutes of the auction will see many many many bids. I'm not surprised if this will end up in the 1300 or so range.

Anyway, I don't think you can upgrade the gpu. Very few laptops have upgradable cards, and I don't think toshiba is one of them. Even if it is, Toshiba would have to offer a dx10 card for that model in order for it to fit in your computer. You can't just buy any card and expect it to fit.

i highly doubt it. I usually wait til the day it's ending around the last 30 minutes or less to see what the price is. That's probably what alot of people do, hence the "watch this item" option.

I'm just about positive you can't upgrade the gpu and I'm just about positive you won't get that laptop for anywhere near $520. ;)

There is 9 of them though, 3 are still avalible with no bids. I will post what it ends up at. Any suggestions for that price range? Max $700? DX10...

Yes, but they are only upgradable to gpus made specifically for that model.

For example, if you get a 1520 with the 8400gs, you can upgrade to the 8600gt because dell makes an 8600gt for that model. But you can't just put in any card you wish in there.

So for yours to work, Toshiba has to make a DX10 card for the P100. Otherwise, you're out of luck.

WARNING! IF YOU PLAN ON USING VISTA ON A TOSHIBA P100/P105's (ALL OF THEM WITH NVIDIA CARDS) THEY HAVE TERRIBLE STUTERING ISSUES AND TOSHIBA HAS YET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEM. I would refrain from purchasing a Toshiba P105/P100 laptop unless all you plan to do is use windows xp and that's it! More on that here
    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=30162
THere's a 36 page thread on this issue.
Toshiba P105/P100's affected are the ones with Nvidia geforce go 7600, 7900 gs, 7900 gtx

Edit: It has Vista Ultimate, it will stutter you to death.

Edit2: I doubt that laptop will sell for under $1500, at most. Most likely it has not met his Reserve at the moment and the auction will be retracted whenever it ends.

Do you have a lot of experiences on Ebay ?
I doubt it. This auction still runs 2 d and 21 hrs and 7 bidders already brought it to 500 $. To keep it short: You won´t get this machine unless you´d bid at least more than 1200 $. And to be honest, i wouldn´t buy such a valuable NB from a seller that only has a low feedback count of 16.
