I got a M115 S3094 this week and this is my first laptop. I had to resist the temptation to blow a bunch of money as I am so eager to do with top of the line tech stuff so this model seemed like a fair deal for simple business use. I got it for $650 US and had an extra GB of RAM lying around so now it has 1.5 GB.

I am curious as to how long you all may think that the life of these models are, not in hardware power wise but in terms of durability? Any known issues or things that would be good to know besides common sense stuff like don't drop it?

It seems like Vista is included thru coupon when you buy most pc's these days. I did not see anything about a coupon in the box or anything when I bought it but the sales guy said that it is eligible for a free upgrade. Do any of you know anything about this?

    Thanks.

Congratulations on your purchase. As long as you take good care of your notebook, you should be able to use it for a long time.

Make sure to clean the fans and calibrate your battery regularly. The cooling guide and battery guide, have that information, respectively.

I'd check the Toshiba website for details on the Express Upgrade program details.

Yes. The link to the cooling guide shows you how to clean your fan, and the battery guide explains how to take care of your battery.

hi I'm new here... i have a m115-3094 that i bought back in October. I ordered some ram last week (1gb) and tried to install it today. When I opened the bottom panel to insert the ram into the laptop, I realized that toshiba had used the empty slot. I know there should be another slot elsewhere. Does anyone know how i can access that slot? Are there diagrams? Please help!

I use my Toshiba 5150 s501 every day and it is 4 1/2 years old. The thing has been all over the country, 8 flights, and thousands of miles on the road. The last year or so it has taken up residence on a desk in our living room as our main web/e-mail machine. The battery doesn't hold much of a charge anymore, and I did have to replace the HD but otherwise everything works great.

I did want a laptop of my own again, since that machine has become the family PC. I just ordered a new Toshiba. I just hope is as good as the one I have now.

BTW I also work with the PC support guy for my company. We have ton's of laptops come and go. Most hold up pretty well for the 3 year lease we have them, just take care of your equipment and you should not have to worry about it.
