I haven't seen any people post any info on this laptop yet and the only review I've found is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_4LwGiECsU

Supposedly the battery can last up to 7 hours. I'll believe that when I see it in person. I'll try to post a review after I get it.

I just bought one today at Fry's- $1300 + tax. I couldn't find any good info. on them online, but it is one of the few that meets our requirements and it was the lowest price one and most importantly the one that I could actually find to get my hands on since I procrastinated too long to feel safe ordering online.

Have you used it yet? I'm very interested in battery life while watching a DVD. By the way it was 1050 at amazon.com

I got mine late today so it's still in the box. I bought it as a gift for my wife so I won't get much time on it before Christmas, just enough to make sure it works fully.

I think battery life should be similar to the R500 and I did find reviews of it.

I started mine today and have been getting it set up. You have to play 20 questions when you first turn it on, and I can see that there are some bloatware items that I want to remove. I'm not up on the latest performance tests so I used super_pi1.5 which is what the overclockers use. This machine ran 1M in 35 sec., my Inspiron 8600 1.4MHz Pentium M takes 60 sec., which coincidentally is what my office CAD workstation takes. I was apprehensive about the speed of the computer but I think it will be plenty for us for the next 3 or 4 years.

How's the fan noise on this machine? Does it cycle on and off?

    Thanks.

Only one speaker? I thought that went out of style with P133 machines.

Well this laptop is going but. Love the size, screen looks really nice, but the speaker is killing me, even watching videos on youtube, you can barely hear it, and what you do hear is very low quality sounding.

On a side note, the battery list between 4/5 hours. which is really nice. The machine is relatively quiet, but the DVD drive seems a bit loud (and over shadows the speaker.)

There is also major bloatware on this machine, 76 processes running, and there doesn't seem to be a way to skip the norton 360 60 day trial, you can't close it out, or close it in the task manager.

I really wanted to like this machine, but my search will continue.

You can remove it by following: Start/Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a Program

The one that I bought is for my wife and it looks good for our purposes. She wanted an ultraportable for travelling, and this one is the right size and weight. I will be doing major cleanup on it eventually, it does have some serious bloatware. I'm going to try to kill that fingerprint reader too. We typically don't play videos on the machine so the speakers won't be an issue. I ran it for several hours in my office last week and the fan never came on. Another surprising thing is that the power supply is also very small and light. The power supply alone for my old Dell seems to weigh almost as much as this entire Toshiba machine does.
