new L500 is driving me to distraction !!

if mouse clicks on 'start' or 'show hidden icons' a 'search results' dialogue window opens and virtually locks the machine. Only way to get rid of it is via task manager

possibly related in IE8 there is a 'find' dialogue box below the tabs, whenever the cursor is put in the web address or google search boxes to type it moves to the find box within one keyboard press

possibly related, an external online virus scan via F secure showed a generic trojan ! Full HDD reinstall has not resolved the problems above and shows the trojan to be reinstalled also ?!

next step was to do a restore from the factory restore CD but on inserting it warned that ALL software would be lost !! so not tried that yet. Dont have any home made restore discs from day one as it has always been flaky

HELP please as the only way forward right now seems to be back to John lewis, demand a refund and get something that isnt a Toshiba
