    Hey guys,
My friend has recently bought a Toshiba L855 with AMD A10 running on Win8, he experiences that wifi connection gets lost once in a while without a good reason. He has to click on the wifi icon and reestablish the connection.
I noticed that there are some Toshiba programs installed including a system settings, so my question is, is it safe to remove all the Toshiba programs and let Windows take full control, inclusive the wifi connection?

    thanks in advance.

By the way it is an Atheros wifi network in the laptop.
Anyone having any issue with this device?

This might or might not work but I found using Atheros specific wifi driver and software works better then what Toshiba loads but I used the dual band Atheros wifi model though. It sounds like the software is putting the wifi to sleep for some odd reason did they check in the DM with the driver of the Atheros device to see what power settings it has on it? And does that drop connection only relate to the Toshiba or any other devices he has connected to the router?

The problem is only with the Toshiba laptop, and they have several other laptops and smartphones that connects to the same wifi. I guess it might be something to do with the load of Toshiba softwares that might cause the connection problem, He has already disabled the power consumption in the device manager for the wifi unit, so that it shouldn't lose the connection, and its driver is also updated. I have an Acer and it has no bloatware programs to control the laptop, and I have no problem with the wifi connection when I was at his place, nor at my home or anywhere.

Are the drivers updated as in "the most recent from Toshiba" or "the most recent overall" (that would be 10.0.0.255 at present)?
Qualcomm-Atheros have some trouble with Win 8 drivers so that doesn't sound all that surprising.

He has updated drivers by a software called Slimdriver, which I also use and its very reliable. I'll ask him if thats the driver version on his laptop you mentioned.
