Hi there, working on upgrading the resolution of an L855-149 laptop which comes with a DAKAR LVDS cable (6017B0361601) which i'm assuming is single link, here's how it looks: http://i.imgur.com/fLhGDCp.jpg
The longer thin cable that breaks away is for the internal webcam.

As it's the only cable i have, i haven't pulled apart the connector end to see if all wires are connected but i DO have a 1080p 15.6" display that, when connected, displays half horizontal resolution (but otherwise works fine) which makes me more or less certain that the cable is a single link.

Would anyone happen to know of a similar LVDS cable that's definitely dual link lvds?, it doesn't matter if it's lacking the webcam connectors, as i'll never use it anyway.

After some searching it seems that the Acer Aspire 5250 through 5736 and the Toshiba L8xx and C8xx range use the same cable too (abeit, some being called V000270380, but essentially the same cable).
From what i can tell the motherboard end is a flat 30 pin connector and the lcd end is a flat 40 pin connector, but i'm going to assume either the odds or the evens of the lcd end of the LVDS cable are disconnected, resulting in the dropped vertical lines.

It's very unlikely that either of those Acers use dual LVDS at all (Acer doesn't use high res panels on 15" units) so both cables would be single LVDS too.

Cable does not have to be the problem though- some notebooks support only a single LVDS channel so it may not be possible to upgrade to a high resolution one at all.
