At a mall , a Toshiba sells person or whatever with Toshiba jacket told me that an A200 usually has a better screen than the one on a 14.1 Toshiba satellite M200 or Tecra M9 ,is this correct?

A HP sells person also told me that a HP 15.4 in general is much better screen than a HP 14.1 in general because newer technologies always come into a 15.4 first , is this correct?

I personally dislike the 14.1 screen of mine and I guess it is the SEC Samsung LCD.

Do you guys know who makes Toshiba LCDs ?

You mean size does matter???
Seriously, I think he's full of it. :p Different brands vary in quality, but I don't think size really plays a factor in that. :)
And I'll tell you, sales people will tell you almost anything to make a sale. :) That's what NBR is for, so you can get unbiased (usually :p) information. :)

hope you are right, but I am obsessed with LCDs recently and keep returing my laptops , I hope I can keep my HP but the 14.1 HP is so dim compared to a 15.4 Toshiba and 15.4 HP at the mall.

thank you, do you know who makes Toshiba LCDs?

Yeah, i'd have to agree with talin29 here. The quality will vary among the different brands, but with regards to their size i don't think it'll matter. I think it's about which manufacturer makes the display (most brands have 2 or perhaps 3 different LCD Panels in use)

And that thing about 15.4" always getting newest tech...how many notebooks with 15.4" LED displays exist...1 perhaps 2 (macbook pro and dells upcoming E series) as far as i know. however there are several 12.1 and 13.3 (among them 2 HP models) notebooks with LED displays

I think they were just trying to sell you something!

You need to find out the brightness (nits) and contrast ratio of each screen. These specs. exist but many manufacturers still do not publish them.

However, as screen quality becomes more of a market differentiator, more and more manufacturers are providing this data.

thanks , but I want a LG LCD on my laptop , no more Samsung LCDs , but it is so odd to me , since a Smasung HD TV is usually of a bit better quality than a typical HD tv from LG.

If I can , I will just check device manager but most of times an annoying sells guy staring at me so I can not go there to confirm what LCD panel was used.

as for the NIT spec , I found that my HP was 190 nit and other HP was 250, the A200 screen seems like 200?

my U305 definitely has a brighter screen than my A80 so it seems like improved as their generation changes.
