I bought my Toshiba laptop (a Satellite P200) 8 months ago or so, and just recently (this afternoon) the cord has been experiencing the strangest problem. The cord is, if I'm reading the part number right (which is questionable) a PA329OU-3ACA. The cord is divided into two parts, a two-pronged cord that jacks into the power outlet on the wall, and the cord & adapter-box-thing that attaches to the computer. As of a few hours ago, it does not charge the laptop or even indicate that it is plugged in, and when the two parts are connected and plugged in, the strangest high-pitched squeaking noise comes from the point where the adapter and power cord meet. It seems to do this 80% of the time, and then operates normally the other 20%.

Can I fix this myself, or am I utterly screwed?

Since it's still under warranty, just call up Toshiba and get them to send you a new power brick.
